Interim Township Manager
Interim Township Manager — Cheltenham Township (population 37,000), Montgomery County, PA seeks a dynamic, skilled, and experienced leader to serve as it’s full-time Interim Township Manager while it conducts a thorough search for a permanent Township Manager. The Township has a demonstrated history of stability and strong leadership from its Manager and the seven-member Board of Commissioners; the current Manager is retiring after serving for 20 years; his predecessor served for 30 years. The Interim Township Manager has authority to direct and supervise all day-to-day operations of the government, and serves as the central point of contact among the Board, staff, and the community. The Interim Township Manager administers an annual General Fund budget of $36.8 million and a Capital budget of $11.4, and oversee 9 Department Heads and approximately 197 Full Time/149 Part Time employees in departments of Police, Fire Marshal, Human Resources, Accounting, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, EMS, Engineering, and Planning/Zoning. Candidates should have (1) a minimum 7-10 years of progressive, municipal management experience in a municipality of similar size and complexity; (2) knowledge of modern local government management principles, practices, programs, and innovation; (3) Masters Degree (or work equivalent); and (4) demonstrated dynamic leadership ability as well as strong organizational skills. Compensation will commensurate with experience.
