Responsibilities

With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, assist in programming/strategic planning and all phases of large scale projects, including international multistory mixed use, high rise residential, corporate/commercial, retail, entertainment, aviation, transportation, education, healthcare, science & technology, and master planning projects, including new construction, renovation, tenant improvement, parking garage, and unit plans; participate in all phases of urban design, mixed use, streetscapes, land use, transportation, and open space planning projects; conduct site survey of existing conditions and take as built measurements; conduct site reconnaissance, site investigations, and onsite charrettes; coordinate input from multiple senior designers and principals to translate into site plans; conduct design and concept development for competitions requiring expedited concept development and document production; interpret traffic impact analysis and management plans and analyze as built plans, sketches, photographs, notes, and other input material to determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues of design in relation to sites and buildings; incorporate space planning and programming and custom detailing into designs; translate clients' functional and spatial requirements for structures into feasible design solutions, incorporating LEED sustainable design principles and preparing LEED documentation; prepare sketches, working drawings, architectural detail specifications for concept design presentations and presentation packages using 2D/3D CAD, building information modeling (BIM) software, and specialized design and drawing production tools and advanced modeling tools, including Revit, AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, 3D Studio SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and to develop 2D/3D models and photorealistic computer visualizations throughout entire design process and model complex geometry forms and general building and interior models; incorporate generative solutions into architectural design process; manage implementation and upgrades to various third-party financial applications; prepare architectural visualization for design evaluation; coordinate with and represent the firm to obtain approvals from clients and state and local agencies having jurisdiction over projects; provide research, planning, and design solutions, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, ADA codes, zoning and building codes compliance, and building materials nationwide; recommend materials to be used and assist in estimating quantities required; research and recommend environmentally friendly materials for projects; coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), lighting, landscape, code, traffic, parking, kitchen, zoning, signage, acoustic, security, curtain wall, façade maintenance, special systems, geotechnical, baggage handling, vertical transportation, and structural consultants to incorporate engineering systems into unified design for client and agency review and approval; perform necessary modifications of drawings and specifications as construction projects progress and changes in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of design arise from client, agency or public input; apply architectural principles to review all related shop drawings, submittals, samples and mock ups; evaluate general contractor bids and project budgets and coordinate construction budgets with clients and contractors to respond to requests for information (RFI’s) and review and respond to contractor change orders; conduct weekly site visits and progress meetings to observe construction progress and assist in preparing field observation reports, final inspections, punch lists, and certificates of substantial completion; develop and execute appropriate design solutions to produce space plans, furniture plans, elevations, detailed design specifications, conceptual and finished design presentation documentation, reflected ceiling plans, and construction documentation, incorporating LEED sustainable design principles; prepare space plans to program a facility based on an analysis of client space needs; assist in Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment Schedule, including developing and detailing fixture packages and finish selection; conduct post-occupancy review of clients’ use of space and site; assist in preparing LEED building commission reports as requested by clients for other projects; manage project data and transmission and all electronic communications utilizing CA Database, Newforma, Prolog or other approved software; maintain log of all RFI’s and Submittals including date received, date returned and status of unreturned requests utilizing FDI, CA Database or other approved software; assist with reviewing and approving contractor payments; assist the Project Manager in establishing task schedule and manpower requirements consistent with the project agreement; assist in managing project consultant agreements and project budgets; assist in identifying and quantifying tasks outside the scope of the Owner-Architect agreement for negotiation of additional services.

Requirements
