To improve production efficiency through current product improvements and efficient new product design/processes. Responsible for the processing and implementation of product design releases to meet quality, timing, cost, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Process engineering releases to ensure a cost effective, timely, reliable and safe product introduction.  Create required manufacturing documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures, etc
  • Help to coordinate manufacturing launch of new and revised product between engineering, production planning, and sales
  • Develop shop floor work instructions; including method outline sheets (assembly, welding and paint), assist with job hazard analysis and safe work procedures
  • Build or create product structure and product cost evaluations/estimations
  • Maintain manufacturing support systems; including, but not limited to, product structures, labor routings, bill of materials, product costing, controlled warehouses
  • Complete time study analysis and promote process improvement initiatives
  • Determine toolage/fixturing requirements, including holding, lifting, and welding fixtures.  
  • Create cost justifications for new facilities and equipment
  • Liaison with other departments (purchasing, quality, maintenance, production, sales/marketing, etc) to ensure timely implementation of engineering releases
  • Review/initiate deviation requests
  • Maintain records and prepare reports related to responsibilities and duties
  • Track production project costs on new product
  • Maintain facility safety maps
  • Ability to reach logical solutions on historical prints/documents/projects
  • Provide production support in problem resolution and troubleshooting
  • Represent manufacturing/production on cross functional teams
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as assigned
  • Support shop floor safety and health initiatives through improvements to facilities, processes and tooling
  • Promote plant safety and provide direction and leadership in regards to all plant safety matters
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Operations Manager

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related discipline 
  • Thorough understanding of shop floor processes/procedures  
  • Good computer skills; strong working knowledge of Excel and Word programs, proficient in AutoCAD and Inventor software
  • Highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision making abilities
  • Experience with AS400 data maintenance; working knowledge of ERP systems (MAPICS) process flow, integration and data integrity, including BOM’s, routings, product costings, MRP, inventory management
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Familiar with product cost estimating 
  • General knowledge of shop floor safety practices, processes, and procedures and safety-related policies, rules, and regulations
  • Good forward thinking skill and planning a plus
  • Work independently

Working Conditions:
