Secondary Principal 

Qualifications: New York State Certification as a School Building Leader (S.B.L.) or School Administration and Supervision (S.A.S) Ten years of experience as a teacher and/or administrator preferred  

Reports To: Superintendent of Schools   

Supervises:  All Bolivar-Richburg Middle/High School staff and others as assigned  

Job Description:  The Principal will provide continuous and consistent administrative leadership to all students throughout the middle high school building. Our Secondary Principal will foster a spirit of cohesiveness and belonging and will develop long-term relationships with students and parents for the purpose of providing a more personalized educational experience for each student. The Principal will support the school and district’s instructional programs by working with all staff to assist students in their personal, social, and intellectual development. This work will be consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic objectives set forth by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.  

Performance Responsibilities: Instructional Leadership • Works with department leaders to design programmatic and instructional initiatives • Provides instructional leadership and guidance for faculty • Directly supervises other staff, including but not limited to school counselors, social workers, psychologists and secretaries assigned to the middle/high school building • Participates in the process of recruiting, screening, interviewing and recommending new staff members for the Middle/High School • Assumes overall responsibility for students in grades 6-12 • Establishes individual and group performance goals • Works directly with other administrators to assure the physical and social-emotional safety and well-being of students and staff within the school building. • Meets individually or as part of a team on a regular basis with those students who are struggling academically and/or behaviorally • Maintains an active and visible presence during the school day and beyond by attending a wide variety of school events that take place in the evening as well • Assumes responsibility for upholding and enforcing the District Code of Conduct and provides disciplinary consequences as appropriate • Continues their own professional growth through memberships, attendance at relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences • Participates in building and district committees • Carries out all district policies, regulations and directives • Accepts responsibility, as assigned by the Superintendent, for overall school management and special projects (i.e., testing schedule, graduation, etc.) that may go beyond the scope of specific daily responsibilities  

Bolivar-Richburg Central School District is a geographically large district with approximately 800 students in attendance. We have one elementary school located in Richburg, NY and one middle/high school located in Bolivar, NY in Allegany County. Our school district employs approximately 200 staff members and is governed by a sevenmember Board of Education.
