NIGHT WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR

The Benton/Washington Regional Public Water Authority has an open position for a Night Shift Water Treatment Plant Operator. This position is a Full Time (36 – 48 hour shifts rotating weekly – 12 hour shifts) and the normal work hours are 3 days one week and 4 days the next week from 7:00 PM to 7:00AM. This position is eligible for Full Benefits after 30 days of employment which include Health Insurance, Company Paid Vision, Dental, and Life Insurances, Paid Vacation, Sick Time, Uniforms, and Company paid training and Licensing opportunities. After one year of employment, employees are eligible to participate in the 457 Retirement Plan with 6% matching deposits and are eligible for Tuition assistance in pursuing secondary education courses or degree programs.
This Position has minimum requirements as follows: You must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. You must currently have a clean driving record and have reliable transportation. Applicants must be able to attend training classes which may involve overnight travel. All applicants will have a criminal history background check performed on them, and all applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen test before any offer of employment is made. Pursuant to Arkansas ACT 593, this position has been deemed as a Safety Sensitive Position. Additional job specific requirements can be seen below.
WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR I – This position is an entry level position working under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, to operate the Water treatment plant in the production of potable water for approximately 135,000 people and industries. This includes working outdoors under all weather conditions, making timely decisions, working above ground level, handling water treatment chemicals, performing laboratory and Quality Assurance testing, and interpreting and reacting to SCADA data. Applicant must be able to walk up and down stairs, work at heights 20 feet above ground level, work in confined areas, and be able to differentiate colors and color changes.
This position prefers applicants that have a minimum of one (1) year or more experience in operating a surface water treatment plant and have a current Grade 4 Water Treatment and Grade 4 Water Distribution License as issued by the Arkansas Department of Health. However, for the right applicant, the training to acquire the necessary licensing will be provided by the Employer. To be promoted to the next classification level the employee must be able to obtain a minimum of an Arkansas Department of Health Level 3 Water Treatment within 12 months of their starting date.
Starting pay for this position is $18.00 per hour ($42,224 annually) to $25.50 per hour ($54,080 annually) depending on experience and current licensing. Annual pay includes 8 hours overtime pay every two weeks and a $0.50 per hour shift differential for night shift. In addition, because the treatment plant operates 24 hours 365 days per year, all holidays worked are at double time rates.
