Job Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will be under the direct supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer who reports to the Athletic Director and consults with the Program Director for any Athletic Training Education Program related issues. The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists in the overall operation and coordination of athletic training services and provides daily clinical supervision of Athletic Training Students and Student Workers. The person must operate in a manner that supports and encourages both the university and athletic department mission statements.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities: The following outlines the essential functions of the position and are not to be considered a detailed description of all duties inherent in the position.
•Assist in the management and operation of a NCAA Division III AT facility to care for the health care needs of the intercollegiate athletic programs
•Provide athletic training coverage to selected intercollegiate programs as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer; will require travel, evenings and weekends
•Assist in the management of athletic training equipment and supplies
•Serve as Preceptor for athletic training students
•Assist with weekly physician clinics
•Develop and carry out rehabilitation programs based on physician guidelines
•Assist with maintaining a comprehensive athletic training medical filing system, keeping records on preparticipation exams, injury reports, referrals, rehabilitation, follow-up care,and other duties as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer
•Assist with the processing of insurance claims
•Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and provide mutual support with all constituencies and colleagues
•Represent the program and Baldwin Wallace University with sportsmanship, integrity,and a high degree of professionalism

Qualifications:

•Bachelor's Degree required and Master's Degree preferred
•Current BOC certification and State of Ohio licensure or eligible to obtain
•Must maintain Ohio license and BOC certification through attendance at appropriate continuing education conferences
•Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
•A minimum of one year working experience as an Athletic Trainer (may include experience inrole as an athletic training GA)
•Individual must have effective communication skills and the ability to positively interact with student athletes, athletic training students, parents, coaches, staff, faculty, administrators, alumni, physicians, and the medical community
•Must successfully complete a background check and University Stewards of Children Training module
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and complete University van certification

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, cleaning chemicals and/or loud noises and considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
