Full-time (40 hours/week)

Location: Amana, Iowa

Service dates: July/August 2021 - July/August 2022

Discover a charming corner of Iowa as you develop inclusive programming focused on racial equity in the local food system.

Iowa Valley RC&D (IVRCD) is place-based and uniquely built to address varied local needs and concerns. Our team works to grow local economies, strengthen food systems, foster protection and enhancement of natural resources, and develop awareness for the arts, history, and culture. We facilitate partner collaboration, solve problems at a system level, and leverage resources to get more done. Our expertise is in community food systems, planning, and placemaking. Iowa is our home and we are passionate about doing meaningful and measurable work in Johnson County, Iowa.

In a new partnership with the UNI Center for Energy and Environmental Education, IVRCD is seeking to host their first AmeriCorps VISTA to assist with Grow: Johnson County (GJC) programming. In order to advance Grow: Johnson County’s effort to center racial equity and food sovereignty across all facets of the program's efforts, the new Community Outreach Coordinator VISTA will conduct research into best practices, and then implement those practices in the form of racial equity policies, a Consumer Advisory Board, and farm-based educational programming for BIPOC youth.

If you are looking to gain experience in food sovereignty and racial equity work, this is for you -- apply today! This position is excellent for recent college graduates and those looking for meaningful work.
