ACES Marketing Director
Aspen Center for Environmental Studies seeks a Marketing Director to oversee all aspects of its marketing and public relations. The position is responsible for integrated marketing strategies including social media, traditional advertising, digital marketing, and media initiatives.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all marketing and public relations while maintaining brand identity and organizational authenticity.
- Maintain website, blog, and social media platforms.
- Provide graphic design services for diverse organization needs.
- Lead environmental action communication initiatives in collaboration with all departments.
1. Marketing and Public Relations — Manage all initiatives while maintaining brand identity and authenticity.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Produce organizational email marketing communications.
- Manage paid advertising contracts, media sponsorships and trade agreements.
- Organize media, press, guest services, and public relations initiatives.
- Execute event marketing and support event production.
- Support and develop impactful messaging and outreach that reflect ACES’ mission and result in increased community engagement.
- Create original educational content to support ACES’ brand and mission.
- Work with Finance Director to establish annual marketing budget and operate within the adopted budget.
- Coordinate and curate all native photo and video assets.
2. Website, Blog, and Social Media Platforms — Manage and coordinate all aspects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain and enhance ACES website through the production of new content and support of existing content.
- Manage and coordinate blog, including creating editorial calendar, writing and editing content and curating visuals.
- Manage social media networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Flickr.
- Monitor staff engagement under terms of organizational Social Media Policy.
3. Graphic Design — Provide design services for diverse organizational needs
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create and coordinate digital and printed educational and interpretive original content.
- Design and produce marketing materials for development campaigns, programs, general awareness, and events.
4. Environmental Action Communication
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Initiate and create communication through various multi-media avenues. This may include original content as well as curating content from other departments, consultants, and external partners.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support visitor experience at all sites.
- Coordinate office supplies, staff photo boards.
- Assist with ACES events.
- Participate in database, website, and technology changes, upgrades and improvements.
- Other duties as assigned to further the mission of ACES.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in relevant field, plus minimum five years relevant professional experience. While a pertinent college degree is preferred, individual reputation, knowledge and experience in marketing and public relations with an environmental science education organization will be the key criteria.
- Director must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom), Constant Contact, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr), Google Apps, Mac software, Microsoft Office, Drupal website, and customer database.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience and comfort in public speaking. Director must communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders to identify opportunities to enhance and improve pertinent program elements and effectiveness.
- Director must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including experience interacting with the children, adults and parents. This person must encourage coworkers and stakeholders to present their ideas and motivate a highly diverse group of people to understand what is expected and how to achieve those objectives.
- Director must facilitate effective input from colleagues and program directors, delegate tasks, and contribute to organization-wide team-building and collaborative efforts and be an effective team player, while also carefully introducing, promoting and driving change.
- Director must have exceptional time-management skills to manage projects on a tight timeline with a high level of attention to detail, quality, and professionalism.
- Director must be highly organized and have strong administrative skills, including experience with operating budgets and the related accountability.
- Director must be self-motivated, internally driven and able to problem-solve and make decisions that balance input from the senior management team with moving tasks forward in an efficient and expeditious way.
Start Date
June 15, 2020 or sooner.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to ACES' Chief Executive Officer.
Location
This is a full-time, year-round position at Hallam Lake, Aspen, Colorado.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday with evening/weekend events throughout the season.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience, plus a benefits package that includes an IRA, health, and dental plan.
Ideal candidates will have experience with an environmental organization or nonprofit.
